AI makes discoveries in mathematics, computer science and physics, OpenAI says

OpenAI says its AI models have made three discoveries in harmonic analysis, complexity theory and quantum field theory. The models reportedly proved the local smoothing conjecture in every spatial dimension, whereas earlier results covered only three dimensions. Alex Iosevich, a mathematics professor at the University of Rochester, called the advance historic and said AI could drastically change theoretical mathematics.
