Al Jazeera Balkans relaunches in a new digital-first format

Al Jazeera Balkans officially returned on November 1, 2026, with a digital-first platform, following the closure of its television channel in 2025. The content generated close to 100 million views. Jamal Elshayyal, Al Jazeera’s director of digital news content and languages, said the relaunch reaffirmed the network’s commitment to giving greater attention to the region’s stories and voices.

He says a definitive victory must also end the plunder of Congolese mineral resources.
