Mali’s army says it struck two bases in one day and located military equipment

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) say they struck two bases belonging to armed groups on October 17, 2026, as part of Operation Dougoukoloko. The first target, 100 km northwest of Ménaka, reportedly housed fighters as well as military and logistical equipment. Saudi-led coalition intercepts drones as Egypt weighs sending help

The Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted and destroyed four drones over Riyadh, the Eastern Province and southern Saudi Arabia. Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki also shared footage that he said showed cruise missiles being intercepted and Houthi ballistic missile launchers being struck. The incidents follow a wave of attacks on Saudi facilities and strikes in Yemen, where fighting has intensified since July. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said he was willing to take any measure to protect Saudi Arabia if the kingdom requested it.

West Bank: French mayor beaten by Israeli settlers during a visit

Masked Israeli settlers beat Bernard Baudoux, mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries, on Saturday, October 17, in the Palestinian village of Taybeh in the occupied West Bank. Baudoux was accompanying a European diplomatic delegation that was also targeted, including Belgium’s consul general and French and Polish diplomats. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot condemned the impunity of violent settlers, while France’s foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, called for the attackers to be arrested. The Israeli military confirmed the attack and called it serious; police have opened an investigation.
