Attack on Mangu MACBAN Chairman: MYM Disputes GAFDAN’s Account

GAFDAN’s Plateau State chapter accused Mwaghavul youths of attacking and shooting Yakubu, the MACBAN chairman in Langai Ward, Mangu. In a statement on Monday, the Mwaghavul Youth Movement (MYM), represented by Kyesmang Jonathan-Yusuf and Tubwot Joël-Sunday, denied the allegation and challenged GAFDAN to provide evidence. MYM said the attack stemmed from a feud between rival Fulani gangs and described the accusation as an attempt to criminalize the Mwaghavul people. It added that armed groups target moderate Fulani who oppose banditry and attacks on farming communities.
