Bamidele mourns Fasoranti, saying Nigeria has lost a patriot

Nigeria’s Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, paid tribute to Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the national leader of Afenifere, who died at the age of 100. In a statement on Tuesday, Bamidele called him a patriot of exceptional integrity who put national interests ahead of personal or sectional considerations. Fasoranti was an educator, school administrator and community leader, as well as one of the last surviving Awoists and a link between Nigeria’s First and Fourth Republics. Bamidele offered condolences to his family, Ondo State, Afenifere and the Yoruba people.
