Benue: Governor Alia inaugurates 2027 campaign council, says re-election will ensure continuity

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia inaugurated the Tinubu/Alia 2027 Campaign Council at IBB Square on Thursday, followed by the opening of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign office in Makurdi. He urged APC members to unite and reconcile, and named Citizen Richard Asema as the council’s director-general. Alia credited cooperation with the federal government for progress in security, education, health and infrastructure, citing the recruitment of 9,700 teachers and road projects that are about 25% from completion of links to all 23 local government areas. If re-elected, he said he would consolidate existing achievements rather than start projects from scratch.

Rural police commissioners and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners have questioned the case for fewer forces; Rowley also points to underinvestment and a fall in police spending from 0.9% to 0.7% of GDP since 2010.
