Brazil election results 2026 live: Top court extends voting for two hours

Brazil’s Supreme Court extended voting by two hours after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s campaign complained of public transport problems. The 80-year-old incumbent is facing 45-year-old right-wing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, in the runoff. Bolsonaro led Lula by less than two percentage points in the October 4 first round but did not secure the majority needed to avoid a runoff. Sunday’s vote will decide who leads Brazil for the next four years.

The NDC named its National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, as council chairman and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as co-chairman. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was named co-vice-chairman, and Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim was appointed director-general.

Maurice Kamto Remains an Active MRC Member, Party Official Assures

One month after stepping down as president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC), Maurice Kamto remains an active party member with his membership rights intact, Christian Massoma said on 7HEBDO. The statement follows the MRC’s October 17, 2026, electoral convention, which elected Tiriane Balbine Noah amid internal tensions and the withdrawal of Pierre Emmanuel Binyam. Massoma said any decision to nominate Kamto for the 2032 presidential election must be made by a national council or convention under the party’s revised rules. Kamto’s nomination is therefore not guaranteed.
