Breast and cervical cancer: 3,000 women targeted in a screening campaign in Gbêkê

From October 29 to 31, 2026, free breast and cervical cancer screenings were held in Bouaké, Botro, Sakassou and Béoumi in the Gbêkê region. Organized as part of “Gbêkê Rose 2026” by the PNLCa, COLCC and Roche Laboratories, the campaign aimed to reach 3,000 women; mammograms were available at a subsidized cost of 2,000 CFA francs. Me Fadiga Koulibaly, president of COLCC, urged women to consult health professionals and not attribute suspicious signs to mystical beliefs. GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates that Côte d’Ivoire recorded 4,845 new breast cancer cases and 2,284 deaths from the disease.
