Cameroon - Anti-poaching operation: 700 kilograms of pangolin scales seized in the East

Three traffickers are being prosecuted before the Yokadouma High Court for illegal pangolin scale trafficking. Their arrest on May 5 by the Boumba-et-Ngoko Forest and Wildlife Delegation, in collaboration with the national Gendarmerie and technical support from LAGA, uncovered over 700 kilograms of scales. The suspects, part of a criminal network operating in Cameroon and neighboring Central African countries, allegedly collected and stored these scales for illegal trade.

Since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed or wounded a Palestinian in Gaza every 90 minutes on average, according to Islamic Relief. Over the year, at least 1,454 Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,000 wounded, including 320 children. Gaza’s Health Ministry reports 1,471 deaths and 5,189 injuries since the ceasefire, with four killed and 28 wounded in the past 24 hours. Israel has killed at least 74,254 people since October 2023 and continues to block aid supplies, fuel, and medical materials, using the Yellow Line to push Palestinians out of 65% of Gaza, confining nearly 2.1 million people to the remaining 35%.
