Cameroon: Atanga Nji suspends Tchiroma’s FSNC for three months

Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, signed an order on October 27, 2026, suspending the activities of the Front for the National Salvation of Cameroon (FSNC) nationwide for three months. The order cites five grounds linked to events surrounding the October 12, 2025 presidential election: calls for insurrection, threats to territorial integrity, incitement to violence, serious public disorder, and the statutory leaders’ residence abroad. The party is led by Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who has been in exile in Gambia since November 2025 and continues to contest the election results. The suspension comes as court proceedings are ongoing and convictions have been handed down, including by the Yaoundé Military Tribunal.
