Cameroon-Chad Power Interconnection: First Phase on Cameroon’s Side Now Valued at CFAF 145 Billion

The first phase of Cameroon’s part of the power interconnection with Chad is valued at €221.3 million, or about CFAF 145.2 billion. The estimate follows an African Development Bank mission conducted from October 12 to 16, 2026, to assess the restructuring of the PIRECT project. Planned works include 426 kilometres of high-voltage lines and several substations, with the aim of enabling 100 MW of power to flow to Chad by 2030. The estimate covers the first phase of restructuring option “2-bis” and the cross-border component, separate from the link between Cameroon’s southern and northern interconnected grids.
