Hugues Seumo describes how rising living costs are making it increasingly difficult for people in Cameroon to afford basic necessities. He cites palm oil at 800–1,500 CFA francs per litre, bread at 125–135 francs a baguette, three bananas at 100–200 francs, and meat at 3,000–3,500 francs per kilogram. Gas, electricity, water, taxis and rent have also become much more expensive, while juice and beer have not escaped the price surge. He says people in other countries would already have taken to the streets to protest such hardship.
