Benin’s MPs have been summoned to the Palais des Gouverneurs in Porto-Novo at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, for the formal opening of the year’s second ordinary session. A communiqué from the Administrative General Secretariat, dated October 14, says seating arrangements will close at 9:30 a.m. and asks lawmakers to wear their official regalia. The 2027 national budget will be a central topic: the draft finance law, sent by the Council of Ministers on October 7, totals 4,757.029 billion CFA francs, up 14.7%. Social spending accounts for 1,597.533 billion CFA francs.
