The mandates of Cameroon’s members of parliament were extended for a second time on March 25, 2026, until December 20, 2026. Under Article 15 of the Constitution, legislative elections must therefore take place between January 30 and April 19, 2027. Municipal councillors’ mandates were also extended for a second time, on May 4, 2026, until February 28, 2027; the Electoral Code requires municipal elections to be held no later than February 8, 2027. If both elections are held on the same day, the date must comply with these legal deadlines.
