Carrick accepts blame for Man United slump, but ‘confident’ of a turnaround

Michael Carrick accepted responsibility for Manchester United’s poor form but said he remains convinced he can turn the team’s fortunes around. United are winless in seven matches across all competitions and sit 20th in the Champions League with three points after Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat at Como. Carrick called the loss unacceptable and one of the most painful nights of his tenure. Under pressure before Sunday’s home match against Bournemouth, he rejected suggestions that captain Bruno Fernandes’s tactical criticism showed the dressing room was divided.
