Court Awards N50 Million in Defamation Damages Against Pararan

The Delta State High Court in Effurun ordered Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho, known as Pararan, to pay Apostle Michael Akpor N50 million for a defamatory Facebook publication. Justice R.D. Harriman also ordered Osakorigho to publish an unreserved apology in Vanguard and The Nation within 14 days, with prominence equal to the original post, and awarded N1 million in legal costs. The case concerned a July 20, 2022 post amid allegations over the killing of two people in Ugbolokposo; Akpor’s lawyer said police investigations cleared the pastor and two officers.

Poland began two days of national mourning after a 24-year-old man shot dead six people in central Krakow on Saturday.
