Cyberbullying trial: Sowore asks court for adjournment

Omoyele Sowore’s trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja was stalled on Thursday after he was absent and sent a letter asking for an adjournment. His lawyer, T. O. Etonyeaku, said he was in Ekiti State for campaign activities, while prosecutor Akinlolu Kehinde objected that Sowore had written directly to the court without copying the prosecution. Justice Mohammed Umar adjourned the case until November 3 for adoption of addresses and continuation of the defence. The Department of State Services is prosecuting Sowore over posts on X and Facebook that called President Bola Tinubu a “criminal” and accused him of lying about corruption in the country.
