The National Commission for Doctoral Training, chaired by Higher Education Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo, set admission rules for the 2026–2027 academic year on October 15, 2026. The country’s 11 state universities will offer 815 places, including 700 for Cameroonians and 115 for international students; the University of Yaoundé I has 97 places, while Bertoua has 43. Applicants must hold a research master’s degree, have earned at least an “Assez bien” grade during their undergraduate studies, and meet a minimum average of 13/20 in fundamental sciences or 14/20 in humanities and social sciences. He urges Kenya to integrate eye health into education to improve learning outcomes and the return on public education spending.
