From January to September 2026, the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) committed 319 human rights violations in the DRC, affecting over 1,500 victims, mainly in Ituri and North Kivu provinces. The attacks involved kidnappings, sexual violence, and deadly assaults, with increased activity in Mambasa territory and along the border between Ituri and North Kivu. James Swan, head of MONUSCO, warned about the expansion of ADF operations beyond their usual areas, including in Haut-Uélé, and has initiated joint patrols to address the situation.
