DRC: CREFDL, CENADEP and the Carter Center call for a stable and predictable mining tax regime

In Lubumbashi, CREFDL, CENADEP and the Carter Center called for a stable, predictable mining tax regime to make the sector more attractive and increase public revenue in the DRC. They made the recommendation during a parallel session held alongside the 10th Alternative Mining Indaba, running from October 28 to 30, 2026. Participants urged the rationalization of tax exemptions in mining contracts and enforcement of decentralization rules to improve the management of subnational mining revenues. CREFDL national coordinator Valéry Madianga said the growth in copper and cobalt production had not brought proportionate gains in public finances or services for citizens.
