East African Countries Work on a Joint Tourism Visa

Tourism and wildlife ministers from the eight East African Community member states adopted a joint tourism strategy for 2027–2036 to promote the region as a single destination. The plan includes a common tourist visa, digital marketing and cross-border tourism packages under the brand “Visit East Africa: Feel the Vibe.” Meeting in Arusha, ministers also prioritized transboundary conservation, harmonized tourism standards and easier travel, and aim to use AFCON 2027 to attract visitors across the Community. Uganda offered to host the 4th EAC Regional Tourism Expo alongside the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo in May 2027.
