Ebola: FG confirms case in FCT and begins contact tracing

Nigeria’s federal government confirmed an Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and began contact tracing, identifying 44 people who had close contact with the patient. The woman recently arrived from Uganda on an international flight and was diagnosed after several days of treatment at a private hospital; she is now isolated and receiving care. The health ministry, NCDC and FCT authorities are monitoring healthcare workers, patients, caregivers and others who may have been exposed during her travels. Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate urged vigilance, hand hygiene and prompt reporting of symptoms, and warned against rumours and stigma.
