Ebola: Idris directs agencies to intensify public awareness

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, directed public agencies to intensify Ebola awareness after a case was confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory. The patient, a woman who recently travelled from Uganda to Abuja, is in isolation and receiving treatment; health authorities have identified her contacts and begun follow-up. Idris tasked agencies, including the National Orientation Agency, with sharing verified information in coordination with health authorities and community leaders. He urged Nigerians to remain calm, rely on official sources and report suspected cases to the NCDC’s toll-free emergency line, 6232.
