The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has caused 5,372 recorded deaths, bringing the fatality rate to 51.6%, according to the latest official report published Sunday. As of October 30, the National Institute for Biomedical Research had recorded 10,414 confirmed cases. Authorities said the increase in recorded deaths resulted from a retrospective data update conducted with the Ituri outbreak-management teams, not from a sudden one-day surge.
