Ebola in the DRC: INSP reassures on the mechanism for tracking response funds

The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) outlined on October 19 the mechanism for tracking funds allocated to the Ebola response in the DRC. The clarification follows Africa CDC Director General Jean Kaseya’s allegations of insufficient transparency: of the $962 million donors said they had disbursed, just over $200 million could reportedly be traced to organizations working on the ground. INSP Director General Dieudonné Mwamba Kazadi says government and partner funding is monitored under the institute’s coordination, and that partners are asked to report amounts committed, received and spent, as well as the sectors receiving the funds.
