Edo NDC alleges harassment and destruction of campaign materials

The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) says its candidates are being harassed and intimidated and that its posters, banners and billboards are being destroyed by people suspected of supporting the ruling APC. At a press conference in Benin City, state chairman David Olukoga urged authorities to investigate and said the incidents would not deter the party’s political ambitions. NDC campaign director John Yakubu called for an impartial investigation into reported attacks, threats, arrests, property damage and gun violence, and protective measures for Mr Maxwell and other affected people. The party urged supporters to remain calm and called on security agencies to enforce the law without political bias; the APC did not respond because its state publicity secretary was said to be indisposed.
