Erosion gullies threaten the Essence-Major Vangu road in Bukavu

The Essence-Major Vangu road, which links the Mudusa groupement to Bukavu via Maria Kachelewa, is deteriorating amid several erosion gullies and cracks, notably at Chishadu and Baba Kasema. Shukuru Lwekya, president of the Chai neighborhood civil society group, warns that the erosion threatens homes and road users. Regular heavy-truck traffic is further weakening the road and increasing the risk of sections collapsing. Civil society is urging the authorities to stabilize the ravines and urgently rehabilitate this strategic route.

Since November 3, 2026, Canada has restored points for eligible job offers in Express Entry, awarding 50, 70 or 100 points according to the occupation’s median salary.
