Imo West ruling could cost Tinubu South-East votes, APC group warns

The pro-Tinubu group Renewed Hope Foot Soldiers for Tinubu (RHFST) warned that the Federal High Court ruling recognizing Rochas Okorocha as the APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District could heighten tensions in the South-East and weaken support for Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. Its president, Gbenga Owojori, said the dispute also affects calculations over the Senate presidency, with Hope Uzodimma’s supporters viewing the governor as a credible contender. The group cited allegations involving Godswill Akpabio and Nyesom Wike but stressed that they are unproven and that the ruling must be judged on its legal merits. It urged the APC to make its nomination processes transparent and avoid excluding candidates to protect others’ political interests.
