In Geneva, Kinshasa reiterates its call to the UN to strengthen the resources of the independent commission of inquiry in DRC by the end of its mandate in March 2027

Following its first mission in Kinshasa, the independent commission of inquiry on human rights in North and South Kivu reported during the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council that it held extensive consultations with various stakeholders in Kinshasa. Led by Arnauld Akodjenou, the commission aims to visit conflict-affected areas, but security, health, and financial challenges hinder its work. Congolese Human Rights Minister Samuel Mbemba Kabuya called on UN member states and partners to mobilize resources to enable the commission to complete its mandate by March 2027.
