Iraq’s FM says external parties are using Iraqi soil to attack neighbours

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein told Al Jazeera that Baghdad has evidence that external parties are using Iraqi territory to attack neighbouring countries. Iraq is investigating attacks on Gulf states, including drone strikes on Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline that originated from Iraqi territory, and is seeking to resolve disagreements with Riyadh through dialogue. Hussein said Baghdad was negotiating with Iran-aligned armed factions to bring their weapons under state control and was discussing the issue with Tehran. He also said Iraq lost about $60bn when oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz were suspended, though shipments have resumed following understandings with Washington and Tehran.
