JUSTICIA ASBL Calls for Prosecutions Against Police Involved in Irregular Deployment at RMC Mining in Lualaba

NGO JUSTICIA ASBL welcomed the suspension on October 9 of the provincial police commissioner of Lualaba and the commander of the National Intervention Legion (LNI) following their involvement in an illegal deployment of police officers at RMC Mining in Kolwezi. However, the organization calls for judicial prosecutions and for the measure to be extended to other mining companies in the region. JUSTICIA’s president, Timothée Mbuya, emphasizes the need for criminal accountability of the officers involved and for the enforcement of the eviction order for military and police personnel not authorized to operate in the mining sector.
