Kemi Badenoch says Trump deserved midterm defeat

British Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said Donald Trump deserved his party’s midterm defeat, calling the setback “entirely self-inflicted.” In an interview with The Independent, she criticised his tariffs, threats toward Canada and Greenland, attacks on journalists, and treatment of Keir Starmer and Volodymyr Zelensky. She supported Trump’s initial decision to use military action against Iran to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons but faulted him for lacking a clear strategy. Democrats took control of both chambers of Congress, gaining at least seven Senate seats and more than two dozen House districts.
