Kenya Confirms Third Ebola Case, Linked to First Victim

Kenya’s Ministry of Health confirmed a third case of Bundibugyo virus disease in a 65-year-old woman who is a close relative and primary contact of the first two patients. Quarantined since October 6, she developed a fever, sore throat and malaise; her test was positive, and she is receiving supportive care at the Infectious Disease Unit. The ministry said 127 of 130 identified contacts had been traced and quarantined, with efforts continuing to locate the remaining three. The risk to the general public remains low in the absence of community transmission, though more cases could emerge among quarantined contacts.
