The National Assembly of Kenya voted to establish a mediation committee after MPs rejected proposals approved by the Senate that would require the national government to fully absorb any revenue shortfalls. The Senate recommended an allocation of Ksh454.74 billion for counties, representing 22.2% of audited revenues from the 2022/23 financial year. The national government would retain Ksh2.437 trillion from a total of Ksh2.902 trillion in sharable revenue.
