Kidira: Demolition of Private School Leaves Hundreds of Students Uncertain

The municipality of Kidira demolished a private school on the evening of October 24, during the academic year, to make way for a public square. Supplies and teaching materials were reportedly left beneath the rubble, and families are worried about the continuation of classes and whether nearby schools can enroll the affected students. Amadou Dahab Sylla condemned the decision as “careless and ruinous.” Residents have called on the prefect of Bakel department and the Ministry of National Education to investigate the legality of the demolition, quickly find solutions for the students, and establish accountability.
