Ten years after its inauguration in January 2016, the pedestrian bridge on Lumumba Boulevard in Kinshasa, connecting Masina and N'djili, is in a state of advanced disrepair. It has been taken over by street vendors who set up their stalls, significantly reducing pedestrian space and raising safety concerns. The deteriorated structure is littered with trash and feces, and the presence of street children has led some to avoid using it. Once heavily used, the bridge is now largely abandoned, with some pedestrians choosing to cross the busy boulevard directly despite the risks.
