Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia agreed on the rational and equitable exploitation of the northern Saharan groundwater during a meeting in Tripoli. This initiative, recorded in a 'Tripoli Declaration', aims to enhance coordination among the three countries to ensure sustainable management of this non-renewable resource. The fossil water reserves, estimated at over 40,000 billion cubic meters, are unevenly distributed, with 62% under Algeria, 30% under Libya, and 8% under Tunisia.
