Masisi: New clashes between the FARDC and the FRN in Mahanga, Kibanda and Kilongo

Clashes broke out on Tuesday, November 3, between the FARDC, backed by wazalendo fighters, and Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN) rebels in the villages of Mahanga, Kibanda and Kilongo in Masisi, North Kivu. Local sources said government forces launched offensives against rebel positions early in the day, with heavy and light weapons fire reported. The villages lie near Buhimba in Walikale territory, another area affected by armed group activity. The fighting comes 48 hours after the FARDC and wazalendo allies retook Kazinga.
