Matlala claims former lawyer coached him on answers about Sibiya during Parliament testimony

Businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala alleges in a draft affidavit that his former lawyer, Bronwynne Forbay, coached his answers about former deputy police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya during testimony to Parliament’s ad hoc committee. He claims Forbay told him to withhold details about his relationship with Sibiya and give what Matlala says was an untrue account of a visit to Sibiya’s home. Matlala also alleges he was told Sibiya had threatened to kill his family if he disclosed everything, but the draft affidavit does not establish that threat and Sibiya’s response is not provided. Forbay strongly denies the allegations, calling them false and unfounded; they have not been independently established.
