More than 20 roadblocks and 15 illegal detention cells dismantled on Fizi-Misisi route in South Kivu, official says

More than 20 roadblocks and 15 illegal detention cells were dismantled along the Fizi-centre–Misisi route in South Kivu to end harassment and arbitrary arrests attributed to some Wazalendo fighters. Territory administrator Samy Badibanga said the operation was coordinated with Wazalendo coordinator Amuri Yakutumba. He also said more than 200 young volunteers had registered to join the Congolese armed forces, and that Wazalendo fighters in Misisi had been instructed to move to combat positions in the Fizi Highlands near Minembwe. The measures come amid ongoing clashes between the FARDC and several armed groups in the area.
