Morocco: Newly appointed minister Fouzi Lekjaa has reportedly decided to remain FRMF president

Fouzi Lekjaa, a minister delegate for the Budget since 2021, has been appointed Morocco’s minister of Economy, Finance and Public Performance in the new government. Journalist Izem Anass reports that Lekjaa will also remain president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). Holding both roles could strengthen his influence as Morocco prepares for the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted with Spain and Portugal, with Morocco seeking to host the final. The Grand Stade Hassan II, under construction near Casablanca, is competing with Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu for the match, and FIFA has yet to announce its decision.
