My son Ozonna did not make viral video campaigning for Peter Obi, Mrs Soludo says

Nonye Soludo, wife of the governor of Anambra State, says her son Ozonna did not originate a viral video showing him dancing to music promoting Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate. In a statement issued through her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, she called the video a maliciously doctored clip and rejected any association between it and her son. The statement named Kelechi Simon, described as a medical radiographer living in Delta State, as someone linked to the video’s origin and circulation. Mrs Soludo urged people to stop spreading the claims and warned that those responsible could face legal consequences under laws against misinformation and libel.

2027: Akume’s allies reject Alia’s campaign council as Benue power struggle deepens

The Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027, a group associated with Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, rejected the roughly 500-member campaign council announced by APC state organising secretary James Ornguga. The group said its conveners, including Jack Tilley-Gyado and Simon Shango, and its candidates for the national and state assemblies were listed without authorisation. It also objected to Governor Hyacinth Alia chairing the council while Akume was listed only as a member, and accused Alia’s administration of sidelining established party structures since the 2023 elections. The alliance said it remains committed to mobilising support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election and for APC candidates recognised by Akume.

The Patriotic Nigeria Youth Forum (PNYF) passed a vote of confidence in NSCDC Commandant-General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, warning that his removal could hinder reforms and the protection of critical infrastructure. At the forum’s 2026 National Youth Day celebration, coordinator Olamide Odumosu urged critics, including Deji Adeyanju, to support their claims with verifiable evidence and pursue constructive engagement. The forum credited Audi with improvements in professionalism and operational capacity, including protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity installations and telecommunications infrastructure. It also urged young Nigerians to support security agencies and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
