N70,000 Transport Allowance: ‘You Don’t Oppose What You Didn’t Ask For,’ Ajaero Tells TUC

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president Joe Ajaero criticized the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for opposing the monthly N70,000 transport allowance approved by Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government. Speaking to Channels Television on Wednesday, Ajaero said the TUC had not sought assistance over the rising cost of living and that the NLC had acted alone to secure the measure. The TUC rejected the allowance and is demanding N300,000 instead. The government approved the payment for public workers amid a fuel price hike and calls to review the minimum wage.
