Nairobi County Budget Transparency Score Drops as Report Flags Delays, Public Participation Gaps

Nairobi County scored 67 out of 100 on the 2025 budget transparency index, down from 72 in 2024. The report found that the county failed to publish key budget documents on time, including the Approved Programme Based Budget and quarterly implementation reports. Public participation scored only 17 points, and capital projects scored 34 points. On the same day, the EACC recovered Ksh65.3 million during a raid at a senior county official's home.
