Namibia hosts international exercise against nuclear tests

Namibia is hosting IFE26 until November 20, 2026, an exercise organized by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) to test the treaty’s verification mechanisms. Inspection teams will gather evidence and conduct scientific observations to assess the procedures, technology and coordination required for a real mission. It is the CTBTO’s third integrated field exercise and the first held on the African continent, following exercises in Kazakhstan in 2008 and Jordan in 2014.
