NBA blames Enugu Chief Judge over prolonged virtual Court Hearings

The Nsukka and Obollo-Afor branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) accuse the Enugu State Chief Judge, Justice Afojulu Raymond Ozoemena, of neglecting concerns of lawyers and litigants by maintaining virtual court hearings for over three years. High Court judges assigned to the district have not held physical sittings, increasing financial burdens. Lawyers boycotted proceedings for two weeks after a peaceful protest on June 3, 2026, and a letter sent to the Chief Judge on March 23, 2026, received no response. The NBA demands a return to physical sessions.
