Neto’s brace fires Chelsea past Everton but Martinez head injury mars win

Pedro Neto scored twice as Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium, handing the Toffees their first defeat of the season. The Portuguese winger opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half and sealed the win during 11 minutes of added time. Argentina goalkeeper Emi Martinez was taken to hospital after a head clash with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite; Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso said Martinez was conscious and undergoing precautionary tests. Chelsea’s first away win of the season moved them into the top four and ended a run of 23 Premier League games without a clean sheet.
