Nigeria has recorded 1,115 confirmed cases of Lassa fever and 263 deaths across 24 states, with a case fatality rate of 23.6%, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The figures are from the epidemiological week 38 report (September 14-20, 2026). Most cases are concentrated in five states: Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Benue, and Edo, accounting for 87% of all cases. The most affected age group is 21 to 30 years, and no new healthcare worker infections were reported during this week.
