Nigerian Army detaining our member unlawfully – Amnesty raises alarm

Amnesty International has accused the Nigerian Army of unlawfully detaining its member, Lawrance Zongo, in Plateau State since October 5, 2026, and denying him access to his lawyer. The organization condemns the violation of his fundamental rights and rule of law, noting that soldiers blocked a lawyer from accessing Zongo. Amnesty calls for his immediate release or access to his family and legal representatives, condemning abuse of power and impunity.
