NNPP refuses to backdate resignations after its letter to INEC

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says it will not backdate the resignations of elected members who had not completed the process before its letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Founder and Board of Trustees Chairman Dr Boniface Aniebonam warned that falsifying records would be a criminal act. The party told INEC that Kano Governor Abba Yusuf, 18 members of the House of Representatives, 28 Kano State Assembly members and two senators elected on its platform in 2023 had not complied with its resignation requirements. The NNPP plans to update its letter to include elected members from Katsina and Jigawa whose resignation processes were also incomplete.

She put women’s share of seats in Côte d’Ivoire’s National Assembly at 13–14%, compared with about 41% in Senegal, nearly 30% in Mali and Guinea, and 32% in Germany’s Bundestag. Around 40 participants from five countries had attended workshops the previous day on women’s rights, legal remedies, political communication, artificial intelligence, disinformation, and online harassment.
